A family affair: the start of a new chapter closer to loved ones

When Wendy and Ed Bart’s daughter Sally Vere suggested they consider a move from Western Australia to the Sunshine Coast, it planted a seed. Living in Perth, the Barts had long dreamed of being closer to Sally and her family, who live in the Glass House Mountains — but it wasn’t until they experienced the welcoming feel of a Halcyon community that the idea truly took hold.

Watch the video below to hear the full story of how they discovered Halcyon Dales.

During one of Wendy and Ed’s regular visits to the Coast, the family decided to explore Halcyon Nirimba in Aura to see what was on offer.

“The homes were beautifully appointed, the perfect size and felt move-in ready, and the gardens were so green and tropical — very different from WA,” Wendy recalls. “We even snuck into a line dancing class and learnt a few steps while we were there!”

So, when the close-knit family heard a new Halcyon community was coming to nearby Beerwah, they knew it would be the perfect fit.

New beginnings at Halcyon Dales

Set at the foot of the Glass House Mountains, Halcyon Dales is an over-50s community designed with ease and connection in mind. Offering luxury, turnkey homes and resort-style facilities like a two-storey clubhouse, 25m pool, cinema and pickleball courts, it’s a place where neighbours can come together and life flows at an enjoyable pace.

For Sally, the opportunity wasn’t just about having her parents close by — it was about knowing they’d be part of a connected community.

“Having my parents nearby gives me peace of mind,” she says. “But more than that, Halcyon Dales is a place where they’ll instantly be part of a community. It’s not easy moving across the country, but knowing they’ll feel welcomed and supported makes all the difference.”

Her children are also counting down the days. “My kids are already so excited about visiting their grandparents — especially the swimming pool and bowling green. Just knowing we’re going to make new memories together as a family in such a beautiful setting is pretty special for us.”

Support from near and far

Despite the distance, the buying process was effortless. With Sally on the ground to visit display homes and attend events, and the Halcyon team keeping everyone in the loop, Wendy says it was a seamless experience.

“The Halcyon team were amazing with their communication,” she says. “Despite being so far away, I received regular updates with videos, photos — everything I needed to stay informed.”

For Halcyon Dales Sales Professional Narelle Colquhoun, supporting interstate couples like the Barts and their daughter Sally throughout their journey is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

“We know it’s about more than just finding a new home,” she says. “Building those relationships and helping families find the right fit — and feel good about it — is what makes it all worthwhile.”

As the Halcyon Dales community continues to take shape, Wendy is excited to be one of the first homeowners.

I’m looking forward to meeting new people, getting involved in activities and enjoying life with my family close by. It’s a whole new chapter and I can’t wait.”
